Is it safe to rehome rabbit?

My Netherland dwarf of 11 years, Touka, passed away back in October. She left behind a husbun who is in the photo above. The husbun's name is Jayjay and hes 6 years old and recently started developing glaucoma which is slowly making him blind. Recently the abscess in one of his eyes from it is not improving and I fear we might have to resort to removing the eye for his health. If it comes to that I plan on going through with the surgery and then helping him recover at home.

Now is the complicated aspect, my rabbits live at my parents home. If I can avoid It I would like to be able to keep caring for Jayjay however he thrived and was very energetic when he had another rabbit companion but my parents (understandably) dont want to adopt another rabbit and its really their choice since he lives with them. I cant take him in because I live with my partner and she already has 2 cats with strong prey drives. Hes very attached to the humans in his life however, he will sit and purr with my dad when he reads near him and will squeeze himself under me to get pets whenever I visit, he seems a little less energetic since touka passed away but still genuinely enjoying his life with us.

He means a lot to me and I only want the best for him, whether we keep him or not I plan on paying for the surgery and taking care of the recovery before finding him a new home but theres a side of me that feels like hes content with his life right now and separating him from the humans hes grown attached to might just make him depressed but on the other hand I want him to be able to be cuddled again by another rabbit since he seemed to enjoy touka so much.
