Delicious white wine from work tonight. This is a dry Chenin Blanc from Williams Selyem, whose Chenin I’ve never tasted or even seen before.

The age is beginning to show on the nose. It smells like ripe stone fruit, like peach and apricot, but the first thing I smelled was the honey and a lush floral aroma, like chamomile.

The palate is driven by the honey, which is all over this wine without getting in the way, but the peach flavor is less full and ripe than the nose’s, like a crunchy peach before they’re in season season. A MASSIVE wave of lemony acidity dominates the finish. I wasn’t ready for it fr.

This is an impressive wine. I’ve had experiences with aged white wines from Cali, but the age has yet to catch up with it. Just enough for complexity but the wine is still definitely dry, and that hugely acidic finish is a great touch that brings you back for another sniff or sip. And the best part - I got to drink the leftovers!
