Entirely sewn in long-and-short stitch. I kept the stitches more-or-less parallel throughout, to create some abstraction and emphasise the sheen of the thread. I think I used around 36 colours, mostly DMC but a few colours of antique pure silk thrown in. I wanted to try to capture that weird light you get at the edge of woods, where the bright sun outside flattens all the colours and creates patches of silhouette.
