The cyclospora outbreak inspired me to start my first ever garden
| I’ve always wanted to grow my own food ever since I was a little girl, and this year I finally said screw it and gave it a shot. I am SO happy I did! Picked up 3 used earth boxes from Facebook marketplace and DIY’d the cover with old soil bags. This entire process has taught me so much and it has been a great lesson of patience and diligence. I dealt with some thrips at the end of summer and now am struggling with the lower sun, but just getting this far is a major success for me! My romaine is otherworldly and finally sweetening up as the nights get colder. Hopefully in about a month my kale can start being harvested as well. My herb box is being taken over by my bolting cilantro but its flowers are pretty so I’m leaving it be. I’m so excited for next season now that I (kinda sorta) know what I’m doing! [link] [comments] |
