I love the Last Word and so me and a friend decided to “inverse” the recipe. This was after Chartreuce become more scarce after the monks reduced production.

It’s equal parts:

- 2oz vodka

- 2oz Yellow Chartreuce

- 2oz Luxardo Maraschino liqueur

- 2oz fresh lemon juice

- 1 luxardo maraschino cherry

Combine all the alcohol in a shaker with ice and shake. Let it rest a minute or 2. In a coup glass, put the maraschino cherry in and pour the shaker over it.

Enjoy!!!

Oh man what a delightful drink! This is actually the first egg white cocktail I’ve ever enjoyed. Recipe adapted from The Educated Barfly’s book. I don’t have any raspberry syrup on hand nor did I feel like making some so I made do. Cannot get over how delicious this drink is!

Recipe:

4 Raspberries

3/4oz Lemon juice

3/4oz Simple syrup

1/2oz Dry vermouth

1.5oz Gin

1 Egg white

Lemon peel

Directions:

Add raspberries to your tin and muddle with simple syrup. Add the rest of your ingredients and dry shake until the egg is emulsified, about 30 seconds. Add one big rock of ice along with a cheater cube. Shake until the smaller cube has completely melted. Double strain into a coup, express a lemon peel over the top and discard. Garnish with 3 raspberries.

2oz Tequila Blanco 2oz Homemade Orange Liqueur 1/2oz Lime Juice

He said he stirred it so there's no ice chips. He seems to lack knowledge of a fine strainer.

Later on he makes a Cosmo and shakes that (1/4oz Lime Juice). But he says that's okay because we're serving it up so we want it a little foamy.

I just felt like someone else should know about these atrocities he's committing. Joking of course (somewhat).

Was shocked when I saw this on a menu. I love me a Negroni but they lost me with the pomegranate molasses and simple. Am I just being a grinch or is this insane?

I use Griffin natural silk, a brand new pack of nr. 3 in this case. I pre-stretch it by hand (and I’m not that strong, so it shouldn’t be an issue), and knot by hand too, without pliers or needles or anything that could damage the thread. The pearls are very old and lasted a long time on the old string, so I doubt they’re that sharp. I’ve never had this problem with Griffin’s high performance or nylon power, but natural silk is supposed to be strong too, so I don’t know what’s going wrong. I’ve tried 3 times and it keeps breaking while knotting.

Does anyone have any advice?

1 oz espresso 0.75-1 oz orgeat (dealer's choice) 2 dashes Angostura bitters 1 oz Coffee Liqueur 0.75 oz Grant's triple blended Scotch (a nice smoky Scotch could also be neat, perhaps Bowmore) 0.75 oz Triple Sec

Wet shake, dry shake VIGOROUSLY,

Double strain into a martini glass, garnish with three beans and an orange zest on the rim. Express the orange zest over the glass first then torch the orange once placed on the glass.

I'm in south east asia so most of Caribbean rum and US/EU liquer brands are not available. I only have access to Plantation 3 stars, Havana 3 and Havana 7 as dark rum (and some other meh rum like Bacardi, Captain Morgan, etc).

For the orgeat, the best option I have is giffard orgeat syrup. I already got rich simple syrup (no demerara though), cointreau, lime and mint.

Would this be enough to make a somewhat authentic Mai Tai?

I really like them both and can’t choose but I feel guilty buying two

• 2 ounces Plantation 3 Starts
• 3/4 ounce Fresh Lime Juice
• 1/2 ounce Daq Daq Syrup*

1. Add all ingredients to a mixing tin with ice and shake it like it owes you money
2. Strain into a coupe glass

* Daq Daq syrup is 5 Tropical Punch Dum Dum lollipops, crushed, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water made into a syrup on the stove. This is a rich simple hopped up on a little more sugar.

This one was loosely inspired by my kids. We often made syrups that intrigue us and put them into soda water to make homemade soda flavors. The kids wanted to try that with Dum Dums, and so we chose fruit punch. I have made a similar syrup with cream soda Dum Dums and it was delicious.

Also this week, we have been watching a movie marathon of the Night at the Museum movies. I always laugh at the way the Easter Island statute talks to people, so this one is dedicated to the big guy.
